Creating Value for Your Online Customers

Customers are the lifeblood of any business (whether it’s online or offline). So it makes sense to look after your hard-earned customers and give them excellent value for the cash that they hand over to you. It’s not about you. It’s about the customer and their wants and needs. Giving value will increase the conversion rate of leads to sales, number of transactions and average $ sale. This results in greater profits for you for less work.

You should provide products and services that you can be absolutely proud of and that you would have no hesitation in selling to family or friends. This leads to happy customers. Happy customers will buy more from you, more often. Happy customers will recommend you to other people. On the other hand, unhappy customers won’t buy from you any more and they will tell everyone of their bad experience with you… not so good for your business

A business transaction is a simple exchange… cash is exchanged for your product or service. The customer needs what you have (the product or service) MORE than the money that they give you. It stands to reason then that the product must be of EQUAL or GREATER VALUE than the dollars that are given to you. Greater value is always better because this adds the WOW factor to their purchase. The product should be loaded with benefits… not just “so-called” benefits in the sales copy but real benefits that the customer will really appreciate from you.

With every customer, you should endeavour to “go the extra mile” for them. A lot of people will be questioning whether it’s really worth going to “all of this trouble”. But just consider that going the extra mile for your customers will turn most of them into profitable “lifetime customers”. This is actually a lot “less trouble” than continually looking for new customers. So consider some really easy methods like “thanking” your customers, staying regularly in touch with them, giving them free tips and help (rather than just selling to them all time), and giving away free items of value (such as good e-books) for being such a great customer.

What if you get complaints from a customer? Even in this situation, you can turn this around and convert them into a loyal customer… if you handle it properly. If you get a difficult customer or someone with a complaint, stay calm, breathe (I’m not kidding), don’t take it personally or attach emotion to the situation. Do your best to listen to what the customer has to say. If you treat them with respect and show that you are trying to help them, this should go a long way to resolving the problem… and keeping them as a customer. Obviously, some people are never happy no matter what you do, so you may have to just “move on” in this particular instance.

It’s always easier and cheaper to sell to existing customers than to find new ones… that’s common knowledge. Bottom line is: if you don’t give your customers good value, they will simply return the product which isn’t good for your profits or reputation.

Do you have what it takes to be an e-entrepreneur?

These days, it seems like everyone wants to work
from home and make money on the Internet. But
before you even turn on your computer, the first
question you have to ask yourself is whether
you’re cut out for this kind of work.

The fact is, building a home-based business isn’t
for everyone. Some people like the commute. They
really do enjoy having a boss who tells them what
to do, and they like the routine of working
nine-to-five for an ordinary salary that can
barely pay the mortgage. Personally, I think
they’re nuts.

More reasonably, there are people who are
concerned about the risk of starting up their own
business. They’re not sure it’s worth the
investment of time and money, and they’re scared
of the responsibility that comes with running
their own company. They wonder if there is
another way to escape the rat race.

I’m sure there is. You could win the lottery or
wait for your Aunt Sue to keel over and leave you
her condo. Or maybe you could sit down with a pen
and paper and draw the blueprint for "The Next
Big Thing". Anything can happen... Right?

For me, what happened was creating a successful,
self-running Internet marketing system. It didn’t
happen without effort. It didn’t happen without
at least some initial investment of both time and
money and, of course, it doesn’t happen now
without me making sure that the taxes are filed
and the paperwork is done. But it happened.

I’m my own boss. I work from home according to my
own schedule and I get to pocket all the cash my
business makes. If you’re prepared to give an
e-business the time, the work and the money it
needs to get started and get growing, it can
happen for you too.

3 Steps to Getting Organized in Your Online Business

No matter what size your online business is, whether part-time or full-time, it’s essential to operate it just like any other business (online or offline). You must ensure that certain systems and routines are in-place, otherwise it all becomes disorganized, hard work and possibly destined to fail.

When I first started out in my online venture, I joined up for a lot of different programs, subscriptions, memberships and products and before I knew it I had emails galore in my inbox, receipt numbers, passwords, usernames, and account numbers. I quickly become overwhelmed and in total disarray, so right then and there I decided to systematize everything.

The first thing I did was to create a simple database that I called “Account Manager”. Here I listed all the company names, dates joined, invoice numbers, usernames, passwords, website, email, whether a once-off or monthly fee, and any relevant comments. What a HUGE difference this made… freeing up much of my time and energy. It certainly made life a lot easier and more disciplined.

Second thing that I set up was a spreadsheet to track income and expenses. Obviously this is very important for tax purposes. But just as important I think, is to constantly monitor your profit and loss situation at any given time… to keep measuring your progress. If you don’t monitor the performance of your business, how will you know if it’s getting off-track? How will you know what is working and what needs changing? You need to see if you are getting a return on all the time and money you are investing in your business. The spreadsheet that I have set-up is pretty basic and straightforward but I might find later on as the business expands, that an accounting software program is more appropriate… such as Quicken, Quick Books or MYOB (Mind Your Own Business).

The last system that I put into place was a spreadsheet that summarized my entire ad tracking results for advertising campaigns. Now ad tracking, I believe, is extremely important to the overall success of your business. Without the ability to test and measure all of your advertising, you might as well just wear a blindfold. You absolutely MUST KNOW what is working and what is not working so that you can dump the useless ads and keep running the ones that bring you profits. Otherwise you are flushing your hard-earned cash down the drain.

This spreadsheet includes ad cost, number of subscribers (in an ezine), number of clicks, number of sales, cost per sale and ROI (return on investment). This is so simple and yet so effective (and so profitable). At a glance I can see which are my most effective ads and the most effective advertising medium as well. Well worth the effort I feel.

These things take a little bit of effort to set up initially and to get into the routine, but once done it’s easy to keep going. The benefits are certainly worth it. I just wish I had set all of this up BEFORE I started. Ah well, hindsight is a wonderful thing.

5 Parts of a Profit-Making Online Business
Copyright © Andrew Jones
http://www.EasyCash-At-Home.com

So why did you go into an online business? Was it to earn a second income, make some “extra cash”, to make a full-time income so you can leave your current job (which stands for Just On Broke by the way), or to become wealthy beyond your wildest dreams. Whatever your goal is, you need to maximize or optimize the systems in your business to bring about the desired outcome (more profits).

For most people, they would believe that you have to focus on getting more customers and increasing profits. But this is too general, too “big picture”. You have to zoom out from the big picture and zoom into some specifics or details. You can’t get “more customers”, you can only get “more leads” and increase the “conversion rate” of those leads. You can’t get “more profit”, you can only increase the “transactions” of your current customers, boost the “average $ sale” and increase your “margin” (reduce your costs).

Can you see where we are going with this? This is a very POWERFUL way to look at it and changes the way that you focus and run your business. So this 5 step formula is LEADS x CONVERSION = customers x TRANSACTIONS x AV. $ SALE = turnover x MARGIN = profit.

Eg. 1000 Leads x 1% Conversion = 10 customers x 5 Transactions x $30 Av. $ Sale = $1500 turnover x 80% Margin = $1200 profit.

The only way to determine the above figures for your business is to TEST and MEASURE. You’re probably thinking what a pain in the arse, but I can assure you, once you start doing this you will NEVER go back. So, work out how many unique visitors go to your site, how many buy from you, how many times does the average customer make a purchase from you (over the course of their time as your customer), what’s the average $ sale, and what’s your overall margin.

So, in the example above, you can determine that for every 1000 visitors to your site you will make $1200 over the “lifetime” of those customers and each customer is worth $120 to you. What if you were able to increase the conversion to 2%... all of a sudden you have $2400 cash in your pocket. What if you also increased the number of transactions to 7? Now you have $3360. What if you were able to make small improvements in all 5 areas? Can you see how exciting this is? You can make a HUGE difference to your bottom line just by making a few small incremental changes in those five areas.

You can’t control how many customers you get or how much profit you make. But you can be absolutely laser-focussed on the 5 parts of your business that will give you consistent, predictable results.
