You Can Write Articles … If You Just Get Started

Are you looking for the most powerful way to generate traffic to your web site? Then look no further than writing and submitting articles. Best of all, this traffic is FREE (or at least very cheap).

There are 3 ways to get articles. You can hire someone else to write it for you (this cost can soon add up). Or you can purchase and submit PLR (Private Label Reprint) articles. Problem is, you’ll have to modify PLR articles (by as much as 25%) or you’ll have these being rejected by article directories for being “too similar” to other articles.

The third way is to write your own articles, which in my opinion is the best way. Why? Because it doesn’t cost a cent; it’s written with your heart, soul and personality; it gives you more credibility as an expert on the topic; and it’s far more satisfying producing your own work.

So what’s so good about articles anyway? Well, the benefit is that once you submit to all the directories, your articles will be getting picked up by e-zine publishers and webmasters all over the internet. They may be added to other websites permanently. These articles are going to be read by thousands of people for years to come. You will be seen as an expert on this particular subject and people will click on your link in the author’s resource box at the bottom of your article. So you’ll be generating traffic and sales from this for a long time. Not only that, the search engines will pick-up on all the links pointing back to your site, which increases your page ranking.

Now if you think you couldn’t possibly write an article, you’re dead wrong … you just don’t know it yet. When I first started out, I was reading what all the internet gurus were saying, and their number 1 suggestion for internet marketing was article writing. I was very disappointed at the time, thinking … “that’s impossible for me; I don’t have the knowledge or skills for that”. One day I decided to just sit down and try to write an article. As soon as I decided to take action, and started typing on my keyboard, the words just flowed … it was easier than I thought it would be and I haven’t looked back since.

Ok. So where do you start? First of all, you need to come up with some topics. Get in the habit of carrying pen and paper with you. Whenever you get an idea, write it down straight away. Now choose one of the topics you have written down and create the title. Just remember that the title is your headline, so use it to generate curiosity and interest.

Next step is to write an outline for your article. This outline will be the template for all of your articles. It consists of the intro, the body of the article (containing 3 to 5 main points), the conclusion and the author’s resource box. So just roughly jot down an opening sentence and then a few points and ideas for the article.

Now expand on the opening sentence to produce your intro paragraph. This intro will describe what you’re about to say in the body of the article. It’s important to maintain the reader’s interest here and compel them to stay with you.

Next, you have the main points already written down so just expand on each of those points in your own words. Sometimes it’s hard to think of things to write (writers’ block) but you’ll find that as soon as you start writing (anything at all, it doesn’t have to be perfect) the words just come to you fairly easily.

Write your articles with the aim of providing info to really help people. Put your personality and heart into it. This will really pay off as your readers will come to trust you and you will make more sales. So aim to help people, don’t just try to sell to them.

Finish up the article with a couple of concluding sentences that sums up what you said in the main body of the article. Check all spelling and grammar and give it a final polishing. I usually wait a couple of days and come back to my article with fresh eyes and then tweak it as required. And only then do I submit it to the article directories.

Yes, writing articles does take some effort. But the results and satisfaction more than make it very worthwhile. Give it a try.

How to Increase the number of Transactions, Average $ Sale and your Margins

Once you have leads that are making their first purchase from your online business, you must work with these new customers to make the most out of this business relationship. The old saying goes, that “it’s much easier and cheaper to sell to existing customers than it is to new customers”. Therefore, you must leverage your time and efforts to maximize the amount of profit potential from each and every customer.

You have two options here. You can have a business that is always advertising and “buying” new customers, who generally buy just once from you (a very expensive way to go). Or, you can build your list of customers, nurture this list, and reap the rewards (profits) for years to come. These customers are going to spend their cash somewhere …why not give them good reasons to spend it with you.

Ok, so let’s look at a few easy ways to boost the number of transactions from each customer.

The first method is free and extremely effective … it’s “Under Promise and Over Deliver”. Why is this so effective? Because hardly anyone practises this … so when you apply this with your customers, they will be blown away. This is where the WOW factor comes in. Always say what you mean and mean what you say. Don’t make false promises or over-exaggerate. Go the extra mile for your customers and they will be back again, over and over.

Always look for opportunities to offer your customers excellent value. Keep asking yourself, “how can I serve and help my customers better?’ Rather than always trying to push your products on your customers, offer them free tips, advice, info or gifts every now and then. You may think this is all too much wasted effort, but in the long run it will be easier, more effective and you will make more sales. Keep following up with them and don’t forget to say THANK YOU for their business.

It goes without saying that your home business should offer EXCELLENT value products and services that your customers need. If they aren’t excellent … don’t sell them. Your customers are only going to be disappointed and then they will go somewhere else to spend their money. Ordinary products are just plain boring and won’t inspire another purchase. They have to be excited and delighted, so make that your aim.

Now, let’s look at increasing the average $ sale. The best way is to package together a few related, valuable products and sell for a premium price. If you are offering a great deal, people will only be too happy to pay extra for what they get.

Consider increasing your prices across the board for all your products. Now most business owners will resist that, thinking that they will lose out on sales. But if you’re offering great service, great products and you only raise the price by, say $2, it’s unlikely that you will miss out on sales. And just imagine selling 1,000 products at $2 extra … that’s $2,000 extra profit for zero extra work and expense. That’s what I call leverage. Sell on the benefits and value of your products, not on the price. Stop discounting and value add instead.

Finally, you need to work on increasing your margins and reducing your costs to boost your bottom line. Continually monitor your costs. Set budgets for all your expenditure. Track your ads and stop running ads that don’t work. Don’t forget to reduce discounting and increase prices a little. Set your business and marketing plan and stick to it, while always being open to improve.

It’s all the little things that add up to make a HUGE difference to your bottom line profits. Just keep applying it on a consistent basis.

Ways to Increase Leads and Conversion Rate

The aim of your internet marketing efforts is to find as many targeted leads as possible. But marketing isn’t just about finding leads. It’s also about getting those leads to visit your web site and then converting them into subscribers and lifetime customers. There are many different ways to achieve this goal but ultimately you want to leverage your efforts by finding the easiest and cheapest methods and techniques.

Obviously there are countless ways to advertise so I will list the ones that are effective, low cost and even free. I believe writing articles and submitting them to the article directories is the best value for money and most effective forms of lead generation available. With your articles getting picked up and going all over the internet to ezines and other web sites, your link in the author’s resource box can be getting clicked on by thousands of people all over the world, for years to come.

Publishing your own blog (short for weblog) is another great way to generate traffic and to point them towards your site. Also, submitting your site to as many of the link directories as you can. All these methods are great for getting one-way links pointing back to your site and to increase your ranking with the search engines.

Don’t underestimate the power of referrals, word of mouth, flyers, business cards and car signage. You’ll probably have very little or no competition in the off-line arena.

Whatever methods of lead generation that you employ, it’s imperative that you track your ads to find out where the traffic is coming from. Test your ads and tweak them from time to time to improve the results. Dump the ads that simply aren’t working and for the ads that are working, keep doing it. But the only way you will know this is to TEST and MEASURE

Now that you are getting the traffic pouring into your site, you want to convert as many of those leads as you can into subscribers and/or customers. So check your web site stats to determine the number of unique visitors and number of sales. Now divide the number of visitors into the number of sales to find the “conversion rate”. Once you know that, you can work on improving it.

Setting sales targets is a powerful way to boost your conversion. Why? Because as soon as you commit to a clear target, you suddenly work harder, smarter and you “find” resources required to bring about the goal. Intention is a powerful force.

Once people hit your site, your headline needs to be targeted towards them, address a problem or need that they have, and compel them to keep reading. Different headlines will out-pull others so it’s a matter of testing to find which is the best one. The sales copy must offer a “valuable” solution to their problem and be loaded with benefits, not just product features. Educate the prospect as to “what’s in it for them” and how their life will be better for buying your product. Also, don’t forget to include special bonuses and free gifts to not only entice them, but to give them greater value for the cash they are about to hand over to you. Finally, ask for the sale. Be very clear with the call to action so they know exactly what is required.

Keep in mind, a lot of your prospects won’t buy from you the first time. Research seems to indicate that about 7 exposures to your site/product is required before a purchase is made. So obviously, it’s important to be able to capture these leads so that you can follow up with them and build a relationship with them… to build TRUST.

So, rather than asking yourself “How can I get more customers?” Narrow your focus more and ask “How can I get more leads and convert more of them into sales?” This will change the way that you look at your online business.

Mindset for a Successful Online Business

Your mind is a very powerful instrument. What you process through your mind and how you process it, produces the success (or lack of it) in your life and in your online business. Thoughts are what bring about ideas, motivation, behaviour, action and results. Although it can’t be measured precisely, success is probably 80% what you think and 20% what you do. So it’s VERY important that you work on that 80% of your life.

The first step that you MUST complete is to take FULL responsibility for all of your thoughts, actions and results. Anything less is a cop-out and is just an excuse for your failures. Take note that I am not saying that you are to BLAME… only that you need to be accountable for where you are in life. If you don’t take this important step, you will just continue to blame circumstances, events, other people, luck or fate for your lack of success. Your lack of accountability will continue to hold you back for the rest of your life. Decide NOW that you will turn this around.

Your beliefs are the building blocks of your life. The thing with beliefs is that they are absolutely TRUE for the person that believes it. If you believe that you can’t create success on the internet, then you are right, you won’t have success. You can CHOOSE the beliefs that you want to adopt. Don’t choose beliefs based on if they are true or false. Choose beliefs that are RESOURCEFUL for you and what you want out of life.

Focus is the key ingredient to success. Luckily for all of us, we have complete control over what we focus our minds on (although most of us don’t exercise this control on a consistent basis, me included). When you focus on something, you create pictures of that in your mind, and if you add emotion to this picture as well, your mind gets busy trying to create that for you (it doesn’t matter if it’s positive or negative, your mind will act on those pictures faithfully and try to create it for you). So if you consistently focus on creating a hugely successful internet business and add positive feelings, your mind will help you get it.

OK, let’s move onto goals. What you need to do is spend the day deciding exactly what it is that you want for your life and your online business. Get a pen and paper, sit down and write everything down in specific detail (even if some things seem ludicrous and out of reach). Now refine all of this into a goal statement and read this out ALOUD every day, at least twice a day. Visualize having all the things on your goal statement, add positive emotion to it and really get excited about it. This is how the human brain and mind operates and this is how successful people do it.

Finally, take action, keep taking action, refine those actions and take more action until you reach your goals. Taking action brings out a power from you that you don’t realize you have. Taking action allows you to refine and improve as you go. It’s always better to take some action (even if it’s wrong) than to stand still… at least you can get on with the job of making it better.

Make the commitment to changing your life. Be one of the 5% of people that make it big in Internet Marketing… and focus on the 5% that make it, not on the 95% that don’t. Keep in mind that practising the above tips for 30 minutes per day and then doing the opposite for the other 16 waking hours will sabotage your efforts, so consistency is the key. Never underestimate the power of YOUR thoughts… they can make or break your success.
